Marylou
Crane (Winfield)
Marylou Crane was the first
Executive Director of Illinois Lincoln Excellence in Public Service
Series serving in that capacity until 2005.
Her previous positions include
Executive Director of Auto Donation, a non-profit Foundation and
Director of Community Education at Marianjoy Rehabilitation
Hospital, Special Assistant to the Secretary of State for Women’s
Issues in Illinois, Legislative assistant in the General Assembly of
Illinois, as well as a small business owner. Marylou has extensive
experience in local, state and federal campaigns and has served in
numerous capacities for elections.
Marylou was elected as Mayor of
Winfield, Illinois after serving as a trustee for three terms. As
Mayor she was responsible for day to day operations, media, public
relations, citizen involvement, innovative revenue sources,
policies, procedures, research and grants as well as the health and
safety of the community. She also held office as a County Board
Member, Forest Preserve Commissioner and Township Clerk and precinct
committeeman in DuPage County, Illinois.
She has
attended the University of Illinois, National Lewis University and
the College of DuPage. The main emphasis of study was political
science, women’s issues, and psychology.
Marylou
has been a featured speaker for civic organizations and several
women’s seminars regarding motivation, citizenship and
leadership, both in the United States and Israel. She recently
taught classes on women’s leadership for the International
Republican Institute in Morocco.
Currently
she serves , as a Commissioner on the
Winfield Police and Fire Commission,
and is Secretary of the Fair and Exposition Authority of DuPage
County. She also has served on State Treasurer Judy Barr
Topinka’s Advisory Board and the Commission on the Status of
Women in Illinois under Governors Jim Edgar and George Ryan.
