Kaaren currently works as a real estate agent
for Koenig and Strey GMAC in Glen Ellyn; is past president of Issue Shapers, Inc
in Oak Brook, and has provided public relations and marketing consulting as
media consultant for DuPage County State’s Joe Birkett ’96 campaign: as campaign
consultant to open space campaigns in DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will Counties
and for many other political and environmental campaigns. She has worked as a
substitute teacher in Glen Ellyn’s schools; and serves as a deaconess in her
church. She is a former editor of the Wheaton Leader newspaper and has
worked as a writer/producer at Fox Television in Chicago.
She has a BA in mass communications from
University of Illinois a masters of management degree in organizational behavior
from National Louis University and an advanced advertising degree from
Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
Kaaren has run for state representative and
most recently for a seat on the board of the Forest Preserve District of DuPage
County. She has been honored by the YMCA in DuPage as Woman of the Year in
Government and Civic Affairs and the National Association of Women Business
Owners, Chicago chapter.
Kaaren and her husband Larry, an attorney, are
30 year residents of Glen Ellyn. They have two daughters, Kim, a nursing
instructor at College of DuPage, and Lauren, a junior at Hope College, and two
grandchildren.
